Feb 14, 2022 · Blue Cross Blue Shield has really gone… Blue Cross Blue Shield has really gone downhill, at least from when I previously had it (in 2009). I thought this was supposed to be a widely accepted, well protected insurance - wrong. They deny claims they shouldn't, fight your providers on payment (I've had some of my Dr's offices tell me this).
The only two reasons I can think to get standard over basic: Your doctor is out of the BCBS network (haven't found one yet) You want mail order prescription (which basic does not have) Standard doesn't really save you money if you have chronic illness because you still pay a copay for visits like basic requires.The Bottom Line.
