Jan 27, 2014 · Weeks before SHOT Show, rumors started flying about two new Glock pistols. The first was revealed to be the Glock 41, a long slide .45 ACP model geared toward competition. But there was a lot more buzz over the 42, which many hoped and speculated would be a single stack compact 9mm to compete with pistols like the S&W Shield and Kahr PM9.
Due to the size and weight it is more "snappy" than the other 380's. The original LCP was nothing more than a "copy" of the P-3AT whereas the new LCP II is a bit larger and heavier with a much improved trigger. For me the G42 is just too big for pocket carry. I would have to carry IWB or OWB.I consider the LCP to be more of a point shooting/face gun to stop an immediate threat. My LCP is also a Gen2 model, so the trigger and sights are easier for to to control than the older model. What I like more about the G42 is the Glock Safe Action System, and also because the slide locks back after the last round is fired.They are defensive pistols for close in. The 42 is too big for my desire. For many years, my pocket carry was a Beretta .25 950BS. When I came across the LCP, I preferred fewer rounds of a potentially more capable caliber and it already fit the holster I was used to in my pocket. It looks as if you are considering the 365 .380 too. Same issue, probably far higher quality and more shooteable than the LCP's and Bodyguards. But, like the G42 it will be more of a sub-compact 9mm size.
