Reed valves are just under the intake manifold. I recommend you look around for the real cause of the powdered aluminum in the airbox. I just recently purchased a 87 hydra sport with 87 150 xr2 Black Max. Boat is real sluggish out the whole and will only run 5400 wot. It has a 23p prop. All cylinders have good compression. New stator was put on in March as I was told. Boat only runs 48mph and 5400 rpms. Everything I seen says should at least get 5800-6000 rpms easy.

Well, I cleaned the mating surfaces as best I could. I scraped carefully with a razor blade, then finished with a little nylon brush on a dremel. Installed the new head gasket, torqued to 30 ft-lbs in the proper pattern going 10 ft-lbs at a time. I oiled the head bolt threads with 30 weight oil. The bolts seemed in good shape (fresh water boat).

XR2 and XR4 came with 4 1/4 in lowers. XR6 came with either 4 1/4 or 4 3/4 in lower.150 XRI is fuel injected 2.5 litre. 150 XR6 is carbureted 2.5 litre. 150 XR4 is carbureted 2.4 litre. 150 XR2 is carbureted 2.0 litre.
