There are many good TV's and some bad ones, but even within the ranks of the good ones there are differences. Just as a Canon and Nikon will take the same picture they will process them differently with each having its own "personality" in how they deal with color and contrast.

Overall though, the Nikon Nikkor Z 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 VR S is shaping up to be a very powerful lens for the Z mount, and we're looking forward to shooting with it in the next few days. Yes a 800mm f5.6 + TC is doable. Actually, I was wondering about getting to 800mm f/5.6 by using the 2x TC on the upcoming 400mm f/2.8. In other words, put a 2x TC on and not use the internal 1.4x. My thinking is the additional length of the optical path that exists for the internal TC might preclude the usage of traditional TCs.
