Actually 4 books (Shadow of the Torturer, Claw of the Conciliator, Sword of the Lictor, and The Citadel of the Autarch), but its the peak of fantasy/sci-fi, IMO. Much more dense and rewarding than most of the standard sc-fi and fantasy authors you regularly see on this sub.One I have read, in addition to those in the original link, is The Maid's Version by Daniel Woodrell. Another favorite author who writes a range of terrific historical fiction is Geraldine Brooks. People of the Book is my favorite, but all of her works are worth reading.
