The ECM energizes each fuel injector by grounding the control circuit. The ECM controls each fuel injector with 65 V. This is controlled by a boost capacitor in the ECM. During the 65 V boost phase, the capacitor is discharged through an injector, allowing for initial injector opening. The injector is then held open with 12 V.

I pushed the start button and released the button before the engine started. I did not notice if the malfunction indicator light came on then but its on now, Anyway the engine will crank but will not fire or start. Start/Stop cars have Intelligent Battery Monitors that will disable Start/Stop if it thinks a battery is questionable or if codes are set. Most parts stores offer free impedance battery testing that give a good picture of its health.

The car won't start if the crankshaft position sensor doesn't work properly. The crank sensor can fail, or its wiring can get damaged. It went from intermittent starting to no longer wanting to start. Checked all the fuses and they look good, including the 2 amp one on the passenger side used for ignition/crank. Have a 2007 Chevy Malibu 2.2L LT with 140,000 miles on it that cranks but does not start. New spark plugs. New battery. New crankshaft position sensor. Getting spark at all four cylinders.
