It has a complex map of engine load vs gear vs rpm to keep your vehicle at the most efficient point in the map. For example at 65mph and at 10th gear there is a chance that your engine would be adding more fuel even at a lower RPM to prevent bogging down.Before installation, I definitely felt the VCM kick in a lot more times so with that being said, some improvements with this device.
