To add to the fact that the 500 & the 88 are the same gun as far as function, the safety on the 88 is low by the trigger, and top side on the 500. The winchester 1300 is going to cost quite a bit more than the 88 or 500. If you have the money, the 1300 would be a wise choice.Only 2 that I know of. 1 The Mossberg's safety is on the rear top of the reciever, nice for right or left handed shooters. Even some of the older express models are fine. Newer (and I mean in the last decade or so) express models like to lock up and have a worse fit/finish. Maverick 88 if you're buying brand new.
