The ECM monitors the circuit for continuity when the intake heater isn't on as the heater will read an almost dead short to ground, and then it reads 12 volts + when the realy is on. You could probably use a resistor and make it act as the heater to get rid of the codes without EFILIVE.
The serial # is ALY01931. The code is from the relay unplugged. The ECM is not seeing the relay. Try disconnecting the main power cable for the relay instead. The relay will still work. Just no longer supply power to the grid heater. I see no sensors for the grid heater circuit. See what you if any code you get after restoring the relay. Nov 20, 2009 · Got a grid heater delete and i have a code stored in the ECM but no check engine light. 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 Sport - Stock with Edge CTS, Fass, and BD enhanced 47RE with triple disc converter. Most likely due to the ECM cycling the grid while the engine is running, and expecting to see a large draw across the battery.
Dave B. in VA. Yes, the Dodge system does drop the alternator offline during grid heater operation. Folks who have grid delete spacers report that the truck goes through the motions of pulsing the heaters. The voltmeter will drop when the heaters were supposed to be on because the alternator is offline.

The only way I have seen searching the internbet on removing the CEL (code) is by using a EFI live tuner, as it allows you to fool the ECM by setting the input voltage for the intake heater to 0.
