Depends on the shred, but most 1D7 shreds have to pass sec+ either having earned it as a civilian prior to joining or while in tech school. Still don't know my shred, reservist so i'm guessing i find out when I get out of tech school. That should have been specified when you selected your job.

If you actually want a mechanical job, go for Cyber Transport, it's somewhat similar (basically computer networking), and it's a LOT more hands-on, from what I've heard.the program existed for non-prior service 3D1X2s at some point but has since been discontinued. if you want to become a 1B4, retrain into 1B4. if you want to become a 1D7, retrain into 1D7. they are entirely different AFSCs. gather necessary prereqs and give things a shot instead of speculating on something that will never happen.

Any waps question should be answered from the eprrc each year. During stage 1 they basically just move you from 3dxxx to a shred of 1d7xxx with the same job description. I can't imagine anything will change for waps during that time. I heard there should be a myvector message soon about this.
