Bridge mode on xfinity router.
The Comcast gateway is in bridge mode. This setup works fine, but my concern is that when I convert to Comcast X1 boxes, that the mini boxes (I can't fit full -sized behind every TV like I did with the TiVos). I cannot take the gateway out of bridge mode, it breaks the network, and I must have that router in place for VPN access.
@RP009 Your comcast modem/router should work like anyother router. To connect the HUE bridge, is just like connecting any other device to a router. Connect it to a free port, and the other end to the HUE bridge. I perform a tracert and the second and third hop are private IP's in the 10.n.n.n range. First hop, home modem, 2nd hop, xfinity modem, 3rd hop, unknown but another 10.n.n.n device, 4th hop is a comcast router, etc.
