Rockauto lists NEEDA 654236 for the 2014 diesel Cruze with specs of M14-1.5 , which seems about right for a drain plug. The car wasn't driven when it failed. It was being run and heated up for post water pump and hose change coolant bleed and pressure check.

Any oil listed in Tiers 1 - 4 on the list linked to in post #3 should see this engine to a long service life.
