The rods were "spray lubed" from pressurized oil on the Series 1s, which were in all IH built 682/782s and all MTD built 682/782s up through early 1984. I have a CCC 782 SN 714899, as I understand it, when MTD set up Cub Cadet Corporation, production moved from Louisville, KY to Brownsville, TN. Again, from what I understand, the only change MTD/CCC made was to replace the IH Cast Iron rear end housing and helical cut gears with straight-cut gears in an aluminum housing.

Posted December 31, 2009. My 682 and 782 are CCC built tractors. Both have the IH emblem in the grille and a IH decal on the rear fenders. The IH built tractors will have a red front axle and rear end housing. The CCC built IH LABELED tractors will have black axles and rear end housings.
