How much does an 8n ford tractor weigh.
One reason I bought this tractor because I have a 501 sickle mower on my 900. Thought this tractor would go a little slower. the 900 is just a little to fast and I thought this little 8n would be more suitable for it. thanks for the replies and hope you all have a merry Christmas. norm

Troubleshoot by starting with the simple-easy stuff and working down the list to more difficult-expensive causes: 1-System overfilled, 2-Low Coolant Level, 3-Radiator Cooling Fins bent and/or clogged with junk,It generally takes about 2 minutes for the ballast resistor to reach operating temperature and an operating resistance of about 1.4 ohms. So if your ballast resistor is really 0.4 ohms, (which it will if really below zero cold) then you ought to read about 5-5.5 volts at your frontmount coil terminal.Just bought this tractor on July 1, 2011. My owners manual for 1965-1975 Ford 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 tractors says to use straight weight for diesels and either straight or multi-weight for gasoline engines, and different weights for different temperature ranges. Anyway, most folks use diesel rated 15w-40 oil for their old Ford tractors these days, whether they're diesel or gasoline.
Smart thing to do would be to do the dreaded compression test. Ford specs: 90psi min (dry). Do 5-puffs min and writter down. Then do a WET, 5-puffs min. Squirt about 1-oz (tablespoon) of engine oil down the sparkie hole. Oil will seal yer piston rings and up the compression over dry.
