I had left over fluid for over a year (15K miles) and it was in the differential for another year and I noticed some very slight slip when taking off from a stop recently.I think that this is normal since the shift lever has passed through D, 4 and 3 and therefore disengages. To engage VTM, try at a complete stop, shift to 1 or 2 and then hit the VTM button.
