The carbs have been used by a few very high level off road guys in events such as the ISDE as far back as 20 years ago. They are $300 and available and very easy to tune and don't need fiddling. check for any binding or sharp angles in the cable. make sure that with out the cable the carb will close freely and easily. running should make zero difference. I just gave smart carb guys the info about my bike and they shipped it out and I installed. fairly straight forward. I am not a mechanic just a RN who watches too much you tube to figure things out. 2.All fuel is regulated entirely by vacuum in a carb system and a lectron. The lectron was a good carb very very good response but I had idle issuses with it. My MX FCR was also easy to tune but that was using a dyno to help. throttle response was about the same really.
