Hi everyone. I took the old NCLEX a few months ago and failed at 145 questions. I was close, which is why the computer let me do the max # of questions. I did the PVT (pearson vue trick) and it let me make a purchase. Bad pop up basically. Two days ago, I took the next gen nclex and stopped at 85 question (new minimum, old one was 75 minimum). It’s like setting yourself up for a heartbreak all over again. But, Here’s what I learned tho from my research. The people who get a bad pop up and actually pass did not do the pearson trick correct OR they backed out of the page before the card could try to be processed. Here’s how you do it CORRECTLY.

The PVT is not 100% accurate. There have been some reports of getting a “bad pop-up” or “false result”. However, it is a fairly good indicator to what a student’s result actually is. In my experience, the trick worked for everyone from my nursing school who tried it.

I read post after post about how the trick is supposedly 99.9% accurate which made me even more depressed. It is likely that because you finished so quickly that is why your results are on hold. If it shuts off at 75 with the good pop up, you passed. It’s very rare for it to shut off at 75 with a fail. It will usually give you more questions/chances. I would be interested to know that statistics of passing/failing at 75.
