Emerald is their top-of-the-line product, but I've been using SuperPaint for pretty much everything. I've used both. Cashmere really is more forgiving for amateur painters. Beyond that, you won't really notice the difference. Both are consistently better for me than most big-box store paints as far as application.

Use cashmere in low traffic areas and emerald in high traffic areas. $1200 for the upgrade seems a little steep. That would essentially be 40 gallons at a price difference of $30/gallon. I doubt that contractors price difference is $30 between cashmere and emerald. Pro mar is good solid paint. The low sheen can look good on walls if its applied properly, but yes it can flash and show roller marks. Emerald matte can flash also, it all depends on having a good surface to paint over and the application techniques. I see so many painters buying the SW superpaint from the SW store that runs around $50 a gallon while the HGTV Infinity is around $42 a gallon.

I used to run a good amount of Superpaint velvet until my rep gave me such a good price on the Emerald it didn't make sense to use Superpaint anymore. I'd say the velvet has a hair more shine than Emerald Matte which is nice.
