EDIT: If anyone else runs into this problem the solution is to enable the debug menu from the launch screen, when you are in game and near the hostile trader hit F7 and then use g to turn on god mode so they don't kill you. Then walk up to them and change their relation to you to neutral or friendly with the f7 menu. 2.
