They put me in building 4, which is one of the furthest buildings from the beach. It turns out that all the rooms are ocean view. My view is of the entire pool area and further out is the ocean view.

Playa Mujeres is a little cleaner/clearer than Akumal (this can vary according to the seasons and weather), but Akumal offers turtles and snorkeling. There is a charming little shopping village just off the beach; Playa Mujeres does not have anywhere to explore immediately outside of the resort.
