While the AI may be loyal to you, they'd still need to get their Credits and because you're close to them (location wise) it would be cheaper for the Syndicate to build on then the United Ecytion Technocracy on the other half of the galaxy.

All your branch offices raise crime on their planets which in theory weakens them but not by much. Essentially Crime syndicate is the eviler harder mega corp option, you largely get no useful buffs and everyone dislikes you by default.
